The last “real” Clash Royale Update was back in March 2017 which brought many new features to the game – since that, the game has been cooling down a little bit but I can confirm that there will be a big update to Clash Royale in early October 2017! Read here everything related to this upcoming big Clash Royale Update 🙂
Make sure to check back here to see the latest info about the upcoming update for Clash Royale TELL YOUR FRIENDS
I will always check any leak I find and if I see one that makes sense from a trustful source, I will immediately show it here – but also expect me to show fake leaks and tell you why they are fakes.
Clash Royale October 2017 Update
Note: Due to many requests I switched the order from the bottom(old) to top(most recent). If you’re visiting this page the first time and want to get the whole story, you’ll need to start from the bottom.
New Shop & Hidden Changes & Skeleton Barrel (October 6th, 2017)
Todays’s Sneak Peek is all about minor changes that will affect the shop, Epic Sundays and also a great sharing option.
The new home screen of Clash Royale will look like this after the Update:
Instead of your Daily Chest and the Free Chests, you will see the Quests tab on top and they kind of moves to the shop now.
The shop will now always offer 6 Cards, not just Sundays, and one of them is always Legendary.
You will also see there some free Gold or even Gem offers from time to time.
There will also be a free Epic Card every Sunday in the shop available:
Yes and I can also confirm that the next card that will get released will be the Skeleton Barrel.
The Skeleton Barrel card will be unlocked from Builders Workshop (Arena 6). The Skeleton Barrel is a flying, building-targeting troop that drops a group of skeletons once it is destroyed or reaches a building, similar to the Battle Ram. A Skeleton Barrel card costs 3 Elixir to deploy. It appears to be a black, spiked barrel tied to several team-colored balloons. The barrel has a white painted skull on the front of it.
Another very big addition is the feature to share your deck (and copy decks) from outside the Clash Royale app – this means that you can create a link that will simply copy a deck you find out there.
This will become very helpful for me when I show you good decks in the future that you then can simply load into your game with one click instead of manually copying them 🙂
New Chat & Touchdown Mode (October 5th, 2017)
Since the Touchdown Tournament a couple days ago, it’s not a big secret anymore that the new game mode in Clash Royale will be the Touchdown Mode – a game where you play without river or Towers and need to bring one of your troops into the end zone of your opponent to get 1 Crown.
It will be interesting to see how this new game mode gets accepted by us, the community, and how much fun it really is compared to the classic modes with Towers – it does look promising in my opinion.
You play 3 minutes and the one with the most Crowns wins at the end – but you can also win directly when you reach 3 Crowns.
But that’s not everything, at the end you will see a new chat option where you can “talk” to your opponent with a lot more things than we know right now.
However, you won’t be able to type in what you want and only select the things you see there – I assume that Supercell made that on purpose to prevent heavy insulting and cursing.
Definately a very good additional comfort of life addition 🙂
Daily & Weekly Chests Revealed (October 4th, 2017)
It’s finally out, some details about the upcoming quest system! We all knew that quests would come to Clash Royale, but now we have some exciting news and also finally official pictures from the new quest system.
As I already wrote a couple days ago, you won’t get a Daily Chest and Free Chests just like that anymore. All of these chests are now part of the quest system, and here’s how it works.
You will see different quests, some of them are daily and some of them are weekly ones and each one of them will reward you with so-called “Quest Points”.
Each of the quest will reward you with Gold or Card plus the Quest Points, which cumulate together on top where you unlock a bigger chest.
Also, the more you unlock, the better the chest on top will get until you can even unlock a Legendary Chest!
Before you now get too stoked, keep in mind that you have to unlock all other chests, from Golden Chest, Giant Chest, Epic Chest, Magical Chest through Super Magical Chest before you will see the Legendary Chest appear on top.
In total, this is a nice way to introduce the new quests and to make us compete more on a daily basis with some real good rewards.
What do you think?
Sneak Peeks TODAY! (October 4th, 2017)
Supercell just announced that Sneal Peeks will be released today, hopefully presenting us some final details about the quests and the new Cards that will also be announced.

Free Chests Redesign (October 3rd, 2017)
A huge change with the new update is that free chests will be completely removed, only appearing sometimes in your store. Instead, you’ll get bigger “free” chests, such as SMC and Legendary chests, from completing quests. Based on the challenge, you will get bigger or smaller rewards.
Touchdown Mode (September 30th, 2017)
The new game mode for Clash Royale has been made public and it’s the Touchdown Mode!
Touchdown Mode is simply the game without Towers and without river in the middle – your goal is to get as many troops to the enemy’s end zone to gain a Crown.
Looking very promising and the best way to describe it is recommending you to watch this video here:
Game file Leaks (September 9th, 2017)
Several stuff has been leaked from the game files that will give some more details about the upcoming update in Clash Royale.
- Developers can create and enable a quest without having to update the game
- Known quest parameters: type, title, description, minimum level
- At a single time, you can have a maximum of 3 quests
- Rewards are awarded for a certain number of points. You can get gold, but other rewards are unknown
I think it’s not that big of a surprise that Supercell don’t want to have a new update to the game app every single time they introduce a new quest.
Along with the “minimum level” and the fact that you can have multiple quests at the same time, we can assume that we see plenty of quests, maybe even multiple different ones every day, popping up in the game.
Rewarding Gold is very good as the upgrades will become more and more expensive and most players are running short on Gold – other rewards like specific cards and even Gems are also something that is only obvious when we look at the event rewards in the past months 🙂
There was also an example quests inside the game files here:
- Quests found: Win 3 rating battles, win 3 battles in a trial, win 3 friendly fights, collect _ chests, defeat _ enemies using the deck
The quests seem not to start off that complicated but I expect more complex quests getting introduced with the time to come.
Last but not least this is also an interesting fact here:
- The quest can be ruined. For its implementation can be given a certain number of attempts
New Game modes
This one here is getting very interesting as we might see a completely different game mode that is very different from what we experienced so far in Clash Royale. These new game modes have been originally created for the new quests, but then they became so complex and entertaining that Supercell decided to make them full own game modes on their own.
- Gamemode is for both 1v1 and 2v2
- In these modes you start the fight with 10 elixir. Duration of overtime is 1 minute. In these battles, you must withstand several attacks of the enemy (waves)
Imagine it like a classic tower defense game, where you need to defend against different waves of attacks where you have limited resources to defend against. Making good counters will be the key to win here.
Daily Tasks, New Game Mode – Developer Q&A (August 2nd, 2017)
Long silence after the holiday at the Supercell headquarters and they told us some of their plans for this October 2017 Update. Basically here’s what’s important:
- Daily Tasks are planned to come with the update
- A new game mode is being worked on (it’s not bracket tournaments!)
- Improvements to Tournament to make them worth it again
This is all exciting news that has been released so far, but it’s still a long time until early October when Supercell plans to release the Clash Royale update.
